Starting somewhere new can bring excitement and big feelings for the whole family. A little preparation at home can help your child feel more comfortable before their first day.
Talk about what to expect
Share simple, positive descriptions of the day. Mention that there will be friends to meet, stories to hear, and toys to explore. Picture books about starting school can help children imagine the experience.
Practise small routines
Try a regular morning rhythm in the weeks before the start date.
Practise putting on shoes, opening a lunch box, or hanging up a bag.
Plan a short, warm goodbye routine you can repeat each day.
Visit together if you can
Seeing the classroom and meeting an educator ahead of time can make the space feel familiar. Ask us about a settling-in visit when you book a tour.
Every child adjusts at their own pace. We will work with you to plan a gentle transition.
